Meet Samantha and read about her Fertility journey with Fertifa

Finding Fertifa

Samantha was one of our first patients at Fertifa. It was 2019, and she and her husband had been trying to conceive naturally for over a year. Samantha had a previous history of endometriosis and knew that having a baby would potentially be a struggle for her. She had spoken to her GP about this, and they assured her everything was fine, but after months of not being able to fall pregnant, she and her husband decided to have their fertility tested. The results came back showing that her husband had a very low sperm count and below-average sperm motility. At this time, COVID had just hit the UK and Samantha and her husband had been told the wait time for treatment through the NHS would be 4 or 5 years. Through her work, Samantha found out about Fertifa.

Samantha's journey

Samantha and her husband made an initial appointment with their Nurse Practitioner, Nicola, and went over their test results. Nicola went over their treatment options and referred them to the clinic of their choice for IVF treatment. We could describe the rest of her journey for you, but Samantha tells it so well so we’ll leave it to her:

IVF, made simple

Samantha felt that Fertifa helped demystify the process of IVF treatment for her, so that she wasn’t taken off guard by prices, timing, or success rates.

She anticipated Samantha and her husband’s needs before they knew what they needed themselves.

“Nicola set up a counselling session, which we didn’t even know we needed – but it was so helpful. She went through all of the fertility clinics we could start treatment with, and her experience and insights meant we chose the best one for us. She also laid out all of the costs and was so transparent about how much everything would’ve cost us, which was so helpful because we’d saved up for this fertility treatment and it can get expensive.”

At Fertifa, your Nurse Practitioner is there for you every step of the way, for whatever you might need. Having that continuous and unwavering support from Nicola was important for Samantha and her husband, and helped to ease a lot of their stress.

"Speaking to our Nurse Practitioner was like speaking to a friend. She was there with us through everything. From calling me the day my IVF injections arrived just to ask how I was feeling, to arranging all of the appointments with our IVF clinic, to explaining all the complicated terms we didn’t understand. She really understood what we were going through – the highs and the lows. Going through fertility treatment is overwhelming, especially navigating the private fertility clinic system. We had no idea what to expect, so having Nicola there at the end of the phone to ask questions to or after a difficult appointment felt so comforting. We couldn’t have done it without her. No one tells you that IVF can be a minefield, but everything was so clear with Fertifa. From explaining parts of the process to the costs, it was all laid out for us." – Samantha

Next steps

We are so pleased to say that Samantha and her husband’s fertility journey brought them two beautiful twins, Millie and Mia. Her babies are happy and healthy, and we still check in with her to see how everyone is doing. As Samantha describes it,

“We didn’t even think we could have one baby – so to have two is such a blessing. Double the giggles, double the smiles, double the rewards. They’re incredible. I hope more people get the chance to start their family because of Fertifa.”
