How Bain Capital recognised reproductive healthcare as a recruitment tool
In 2021, Bain Capital ran an anonymous employee-wide survey, and the results came back to show that multiple people had asked for additional support for menopause and fertility challenges. The Bain Capital team were quick to act on this employee feedback and began looking into the different ways they could support their people through fertility and menopause journeys.
Additionally, Bain Capital were hiring more women into the business and during the recruitment process they found that candidates were asking more about fertility treatment and support, including support for egg-freezing. Bain Capital wanted to do everything they could to ensure an inclusive and supportive workplace for current and future female employees.
Whilst employee requests for menopause and fertility support started their search for a reproductve health provider, Hannah and her team spent time exploring and understanding what reproductive health really meant and how their people were being impacted by these challenges.
Hannah and the team at Bain Capital soon began to realise how widespread reproductive health challenges are, and how inaccessible and unaffordable support in the UK is.
The Bain Capital challenge
To find a reproductive health benefits provider that could support their employees through all of life’s challenges.
Bain Capital had a seemingly comprehensive private healthcare offering, including an EAP and health insurance. However, they wanted to move towards a more holistic approach to employee health and wellbeing.
They were looking for a provider that could help their employees through the physical, psychological, and emotional difficulties that people often experience when going through fertility, menopause, and reproductive health challenges
Their employees work in a fast-paced environment and they wanted to ensure that they were doing as much as they could when it came to supporting their employees through all of life’s most challenging times.
When exploring the options available to them, Hannah and the team knew they wanted a solution that would help them do the following:
- Attract and retain female talent
- Meet DEI targets
- Remain a competitive employer with best-in-class employee benefits, within the private investments industry
Bain Capital wanted an external provider that could offer medically-led wellbeing support for their employees, as well as one that could help them manage a treatment wallet for employees’ fertility treatment allowances.
They wanted to help employees struggling with menopause symptoms, offer more financial and emotional support for people going through fertility issues, and provide support for men's and women's reproductive health challenges.
It was important to the Bain Capital team that the support was easy to access and offered education alongside the funding aspect. Fertifa was the perfect fit.
