Finding Fertifa
Based on real stories but names have been changed. Will is one of our patients working for a tech company, based in Bristol.
He’s in his early 30s and in a heterosexual relationship with his long-term partner, but they are not looking to start trying for a baby yet. Through his work, Will found out about Fertifa and noticed that we offer complimentary fertility testing kits. Both him and his partner were curious about their fertility, so Will downloaded the Fertifa app and made an appointment with his dedicated Nurse Practitioner, Olivia.
In their first call, Will and his partner discussed their medical history and lifestyle. Olivia suggested they both carry out a fertility assessment to get a complete picture of how things are looking. A semen analysis and blood hormone test kit were sent discreetly to their home, and they completed and sent them back. Will’s partner also went into a clinic in Bristol to have a pelvic ultrasound scan done.
In two days, their results were ready, and Olivia booked them in for a consultation with one of Fertifa’s in-house doctors who specialises in both fertility and men’s health, Dr. Gidon Lieberman.

Will's journey
In the consultation, Dr Lieberman noted that Will’s partner’s results all came back within the expected range for her age, however Will’s results did not. He had a low sperm count, although his sperm motility and morphology were all within normal range.
During the consultation, Dr Lieberman suggested some lifestyle changes for Will, as well as some supplements to take, to try and increase his sperm count. Will and his partner made an appointment in 3 months' time to have another semen analysis and see if there was any improvement. We know how nervous people can feel at this stage – especially if it’s unexpected! Dr Lieberman reassured them with information on how sperm counts can improve over time, the best next steps for him, and gave them time to ask any and all questions they had.

Where are we now
Following his next semen analysis, Will’s results had slightly improved. In their second consultation with Dr Lieberman, he suggested that they try to conceive naturally whenever they were ready as a couple, and to continue with the recommended lifestyle changes and supplements.
Will was reassured that if he wanted to, he could repeat the semen analysis again at that time, because his company offered full reimbursement for any fertility tests or treatments necessary. If within a few months of trying they were notable to fall pregnant, Dr Lieberman suggested coming in for another consultation and potentially looking at further treatment.
