What is reproductive health?

Reproductive health goes far beyond having children, it plays a vital role in overall well-being, affecting both men and women (yes, men too) across all stages of life.

There’s a common misconception that reproductive healthcare is only relevant for those trying to have babies or exploring alternative paths to parenthood. While this is a key focus, it’s important to recognise that there are other vital aspects of reproductive health that often go overlooked. Every phase of life requires some form of reproductive health support and advice ranging from endometriosis to PCOS, menopause and fertility treatment, to men’s reproductive health. Fertifa embraces all of these challenges and fills the gaps in basic health insurance, providing best-in-class support to make employees everywhere, in every sector, thrive.

Why is workplace support crucial in 2025?

The tech industry continues to struggle with gender representation, making it essential to support and empower women in these roles. 78% of students say they can’t name a famous woman in tech, and only 16% of women have had a tech career suggested to them. The issue isn’t a lack of interest, it’s a lack of inclusion and support.

Tech employers offering basic health insurance isn’t enough, comprehensive reproductive healthcare support ensures all employees have what they need to thrive. In turn, technology companies will see a direct impact on attracting and retaining top female talent.

But what does reproductive health have to do with the workplace? More than you might think. Without proper support, many employees are leaving their jobs in search of workplaces that truly meet their needs. Here are some key stats that highlight why reproductive healthcare support isn’t just a perk, it’s a necessity:

1 in 10 women have endometriosis and suffer the excruciatingly painful symptoms whilst having to reach work deadlines and make sure they are reaching their full professional potential

-  1 in 5 employees who underwent fertility treatment quit their jobs due to a lack of workplace support

75% of people said that their productivity at work was strongly impacted by fertility challenges, and yet 37% said that they received very little or no support from their employer

30% who went through fertility treatment took time off from work, without telling their employer the real reason why

-  55% of people with endometriosis have taken time off work "often" or "very often" for their symptoms

-  16% of women changed employers in the past year due to workplace issues including inadequate pay, poor work-life balance, and lack of flexibility

-  40% of UK employees would willingly accept a lower salary in exchange for better employee benefits

-  Over 50% of menopausal women have been unable to go to work at some point due to menopause symptoms

These are just a few examples of the serious impact that neglecting reproductive health can have on employees. With so much of life spent at work, it's essential to provide the right support, whether for painful reproductive health conditions, fertility challenges, managing menopause symptoms, or the mental toll that comes with them.

8 companies in tech with industry-leading reproductive health benefits

Spotify

Spotify’s employee benefits are music to our ears…literally. The leading music tech company has openly embraced flexible working, acknowledging that 'our employees aren’t children.' This statement highlights not only their respect for their workforce but also their understanding of diverse employee needs, including the importance of accommodating those facing reproductive health challenges.

They offer comprehensive reproductive health benefits through their fertility benefits provider, including unlimited fertility benefits and long periods of paid maternity or paternity leave, ensuring employees feel valued and supported as individuals. Spotify offers all parents (regardless of gender, sexual orientation or marital status) six months of fully paid time off to spend with their new family member. This is not only a huge step forward for inclusion, but equity too. It is brilliant to see Spotify recognising their employees real needs, and making our monthly subscription feel far more worth it.

Meta 🏆

"We’re proud to help create a world where everyone feels empowered to thrive" and they really mean it. This commitment goes beyond their clients, it extends to their employees too, especially through their comprehensive benefits packages.

Meta demonstrates a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by offering medical advocacy and concierge support, including access to LGBTQ+ affirming providers. They also prioritise employee well-being with extensive mental health programs that support both their workforce and their families.

As a leading tech company, Meta sets itself apart by providing inclusive reproductive healthcare and family-building benefits through Fertifa. This includes a wide range of resources and support; educational materials, webinars, 1-2-1 support from in-house clinical experts, fertility and family planning guidance, and financial assistance. This financial fertility coverage helps ease the burden of costly processes like IVF and egg freezing and other inclusive fertility options, ensuring that everyone has equal access to parenthood, regardless of their path.

Meta further supports its employees by offering paid leave for all new parents (including adoptive parents) regardless of gender or sexual orientation. By facilitating an inclusive, diverse, and supportive workplace, they empower employees to reach their full personal and professional potential.

Microsoft

Scoring an impressive 76% workplace happiness score, there is no doubt that the attractive employee benefits available for Microsoft employees play a huge role in this. The technology and software leader stated they offer "world-class benefits designed to help you and your family live well," acknowledging that employees have lives beyond the office that require attention, work, and support. A key way they have achieved this is by offering benefits to employees focussed on reproductive health support, through fertility and menopause services, including up to $15,000 in IVF related expenses, also covering medications and procedures.

Microsoft demonstrates a genuine commitment to employee support in the reproductive health realm through internal groups like GLEAM (Global LGBTQIA+ Employees and Allies at Microsoft), Families at Microsoft, and Women at Microsoft. All of these groups supply those who work at the company with hugely beneficial resources and help people feel valued and included for who they are.

Bondaval 🏆

With offices in London, Dallas, New York, and Copenhagen, this British insurtech is leading the way in B2B credit security, and they are doing the same for employee care with comprehensive reproductive healthcare benefits.

Bondaval has raised over $15 million in venture funding and has since been rapidly expanding, attracting top talent across all backgrounds and age groups. As a fast-growing company, one challenge they faced was finding a comprehensive reproductive healthcare provider that could support their evolving team, that’s where Fertifa came in.

Since partnering with Fertifa in 2023, we’ve taken this challenge off their hands, providing their employees with educational resources, webinars, 1-2-1 support from our in-house clinical team who provide Bondaval employees access to fertility experts, guidance on family planning, menopause, and both women’s and men’s reproductive health. We’re thrilled to see tech firms such as Bondaval succeed and grateful to support their efforts in creating a workplace that champions employee wellbeing.

Google

Last year, Google won the 2024 Best Company Perks & Benefits Award, with their reproductive healthcare benefits playing a major part in securing the win. The tech giant also won the 2024 Best Company Global Culture Award by prioritising employees' sense of value as individuals, rather than viewing them as replaceable parts of the system.

A way in which Google manages to create a workplace that demonstrates real impact and support for their employees is through their reproductive health care benefits. They offer their employees four rounds of IVF for them and their partners, additional support for fertility help, adoption and surrogacy support and the option to undergo egg freezing.

Reproductive health is certainly not simply a women’s issue but with the majority of reproductive health issues affecting women, it is incredibly encouraging to have such influential companies such as Google showing their support for those facing these challenges every day.

Indeed

The leading tech company centred around helping people find jobs, say their own employee benefits ‘show how much we value our people, whether they’re inside Indeed or out’, acknowledging that their employees have a life outside of work that also requires assistance and support.

Indeed makes a conscious effort to reflect how much it values its workforce by implementing comprehensive reproductive healthcare benefits such as; support for all paths to parenthood including egg and sperm freezing, fertility treatment, pregnancy, adoption, surrogacy, and in some cases a reimbursement payment to cover costs outside of the medical plans.

Indeed also have an Openly Paid Time Off (PTO) policy, meaning that trust their employees to manage their time whilst away from work. There is no limit to how much time you take off, so long as you achieve your goals and reach your targets. This also makes a huge difference to the 1 in 10 women who suffer with conditions like endometriosis or those dealing with complicated menopause symptoms, allowing them to manage their pain and balance their work, in a way that works best for them.

Amadeus 🏆

The tech company focused on making ‘the experience for travel better for everyone’ recently won the 2025 Happiest Workplace Award alongside the 2025 Financial Times’ Leader in Diversity Award. Amadeus says they are focused on creating a ‘great workplace experience’, and it is clear to see this through their comprehensive employee reproductive benefits.

The company fosters a diverse and inclusive environment in many ways, including through its Amadeus Proud network, which supports LGBTQ+ inclusivity worldwide. With over 500 active members and in-person events, it provides a safe space for employees, especially those navigating various paths to parenthood. Support networks like these help employees balance these life-changing journeys alongside their careers.

Additionally, Amadeus Women's Network connects over 2,500 members globally and they recently celebrated their 10 year anniversary. Since partnering with Fertifa in 2021, Amadeus has been able to take its workplace inclusivity and equity efforts to the next level by providing employees with access to educational resources & webinars and 1-2-1 support from our in-house clinical team for fertility & family forming or family planning advice, menopause and women’s health support, and men’s reproductive health support.

ClearScore 🏆

Since launching a decade ago, ClearScore has championed accessibility, not just in credit insights but also in supporting employees with comprehensive benefits. The company supports flexible working, stating, “We trust everyone to work in a way that suits them best.” This ensures employees can manage conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, or menopause with the flexibility they need.

This focus on employees’ needs showcases their commitment to helping people thrive, both personally and professionally, and is clearly reflected in their comprehensive reproductive healthcare benefits. ClearScore partnered with Fertifa two years ago, to provide their employees with education materials, webinars, 1-2-1 support from our in-house clinical team, for guidance on fertility, family-forming, menopause, and both women's and men's reproductive health. This ensures employees feel seen, valued, and supported beyond the workplace.

Beyond this, ClearScore has reinforced its commitment to gender diversity and equity, particularly through its Women Rising program, which focuses on retention, attracting top talent, and achieving diversity goals. By offering best-in-class reproductive healthcare benefits, ClearScore is already well on its way to fostering a truly inclusive workplace.
