World Lupus Day (10th)

World Lupus Day is observed annually on May 10th to raise awareness about the impact of lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease, on people worldwide, and to advocate for improved healthcare, research, and support services.

Deaf Awareness Week (5th-11th)

International Nurses Day (12th)

Mental Health Awareness Week (12th)

Mental Health Awareness Week is an event in the UK, typically held in May, aimed at raising awareness about mental health issues, reducing stigma, and promoting mental wellbeing. Organised by Mind, the charity, it includes various activities and campaigns to educate the public and encourage open conversations about mental health.

ME Awareness Week (12th – 18th)

ME Awareness Week is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), a debilitating condition also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).

Dementia Action / Awareness Week 2025 (13th –19th)

Dementia Action / Awareness Week 2025 will take place from May 13th to 19th, and it's a national campaign coordinated by the Alzheimer's Society aimed at raising awareness about dementia and encouraging people to seek help. 

Global Accessibility Awareness Day (15th)

Global Accessibility AwarenessDay (GAAD) highlights the need for accessible technology and design, promoting discussions and actions to ensure that digital environments are usable by everyone, regardless of their abilities.

Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (17th)

The Day Against Homophobia andTransphobia addresses discrimination faced by LGBTQ+ individuals and promotes equality and human rights for the LGBTQ+ community worldwide. The date was chosen to commemorate the World Health Organisation's decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.

World Blood Cancer Day (28th)

World Blood Cancer Day raises awareness around blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma in an attempt to to educate the public, support research efforts, and improve the lives of those affected by these conditions through advocacy and fundraising activities.

Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Day (28th)

Observed for the first time in2014, the German GMO 'WASH United' initiated it to raise awareness about the taboo related to menstruation.
