Despite comprehensive benefits packages, many male employees underuse the health and wellbeing support available to them. Men are less likely to proactively engage with health services or seek mental health support, leading to lower engagement and poorer health outcomes.
- 75% of men will put off going to the GP when something is wrong
- 40% of men will only go to the doctor if they have a serious health issue
- 21% of men put off going to the doctor because they're worried something might be wrong
Creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and encouraged to live a healthy life includes raising awareness around, and encouraging men to prioritise their health and wellbeing.
Building psychological safety to create an environment where men feel safe to access health and wellbeing support is a key step to ensuring the benefits and policies you have in place are actually used by your people.
There will be plenty of time for Q&A, so come along with any you might have.
