In the UK, it is estimated that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss during pregnancy or birth. Nearly 1 in 3 people who experience pregnancy loss suffer from PTSD in the month following. Pregnancy loss has also been linked to anxiety and depression.
Miscarriage and pregnancy loss can have a profound impact on a person's life and wellbeing, and this is especially seen in the absence of workplace support. For some people who have experienced pregnancy loss, continuing work or returning to work can be challenging. For others, a supportive work environment and feeling valued can be helpful.
During this webinar we will be offering advice for HR teams on how to train managers on pregnancy loss. A study by the Workforce Institute at UKG showed that nearly 70% of people say their manager has more of an impact on their mental health than a therapist or doctor, the same impact as their partner. Additionally, 94% of employees say their manager should have at least some responsibility for their wellbeing. However, 1 in 3 managers say they don’t know how to support employees with mental health.
During this webinar, we will cover:
- What pregnancy loss is and how it can affect someone, personally and at work
- The legal entitlements every manager and HR leader needs to be aware of
- Practical advice on running training sessions for managers on supporting people through pregnancy loss
- How to open the conversation in the workplace and with managers
There will be plenty of time for questions, as always.
